Cadence pays every Friday. No invoicing on your end, no chasing. The mechanics are simple: founders pay the platform Friday morning, the platform pays you Friday afternoon.
The schedule
- Friday 9:00 UTC · founder invoices generated and charged.
- Friday 17:00 UTC · engineer and partner payouts kicked off via Stripe.
- Saturday or Monday · funds settle in your account, depending on country.
What you receive
- 80% of gross weekly rate, less Stripe fees.
- Senior tier ($1,500 / week) → you receive ~$1,200 after Stripe fees.
- Partner referrals (5% on engineer bookings, 10% on founder bookings) are paid as separate line items so the source is clear.
Where the money goes
- Stripe Connect in 47 countries (US, UK, EU, India, Singapore, AU, NZ, etc).
- Wise in 50+ additional countries where Stripe Connect is unavailable, paid as a USD or local-currency wire.
- USDC on Base or Solana for engineers in countries where neither works. Email engineers@cadence.work to enable.
Tax forms
- US engineers: 1099-NEC issued by January 31 each year, available in your dashboard.
- EU and UK: VAT-compliant payout reports for self-employed engineers.
- India: Form 16A (TDS) where applicable.
- Other countries: monthly payout statements you can give your accountant.
Minimum payout
$50 minimum. Below that, the balance carries over to the next Friday. This basically only happens during partial weeks at the start or end of an engagement.
Failed payouts
- Bank rejected the deposit: we email you within an hour, the funds are held safely.
- Stripe Connect needs more info: complete the prompt in your dashboard, we re-run the payout same day.
- Country added to sanctions list mid-engagement: rare. We work with you to find an alternate route, no funds lost.
Holidays
We never skip a Friday. Worst case, payouts shift to the next business day and back-fill. You always get paid for every week you worked.
