Privacy policy

This policy describes how Cadence Labs, Inc. ("Cadence", "we") collects, uses, and shares personal data. We aim to be specific instead of vague, if any section is unclear, email privacy@cadence.work.

1. What we collect

When you use Cadence we collect:

  • Identity: name, email, role (founder / engineer / partner), profile fields you fill in (company, headline, bio, location, timezone, GitHub / LinkedIn URLs, resume).
  • Usage: pages you visit, actions you take (book, accept, rate, message), your IP and user agent for fraud prevention.
  • Communication: messages between founders and engineers, intro-call recordings (only with both-party consent), and any support emails.
  • Payment: card-on-file is held by Stripe / Razorpay, we never see card numbers. We do see invoice amounts, subscription status, and payout details.
  • Voice interview audio: stored encrypted, used only for grading + appeals review, deleted 12 months after your account closes.

2. How we use it

  • Run the matching algorithm, engineer skills, ratings, and availability are read every time a founder books.
  • Run the platform, billing, payouts, notifications, support.
  • Improve matching quality, we look at aggregate (anonymized) data on what makes a successful engagement.
  • Detect fraud, duplicate accounts, fake reviews, sock-puppet referrals.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models without explicit opt-in.

3. Sharing

We share what's necessary to operate the service:

  • Founder ↔ engineer see each other's name, photo, role, and the booking-relevant fields. Founders never see engineer payout info; engineers never see founder card-on-file details.
  • Sub-processors: Stripe / Razorpay (payments), Resend (email), Daily.co (video), Anthropic (interview grading), Vercel + Neon (hosting + DB), Pusher (real-time), PostHog / Sentry (analytics + errors). All are bound by data-processing agreements.
  • Legal compliance: we comply with valid law-enforcement requests but notify you unless gagged by court order.

4. Your rights

EU/UK/CA/IN: you can request access, correction, deletion, or export of your data at privacy@cadence.work. We respond within 30 days. You can also delete your account from Settings → Danger zone, which queues data for deletion within 60 days.

5. Retention

  • Active account data: kept for the lifetime of the account.
  • Closed account: profile data deleted within 60 days. Anonymized booking outcomes retained indefinitely for matching ML.
  • Tax / financial records: 7 years (US/India statutory minimum).
  • Interview recordings: 12 months after account closure, then permanently deleted.

6. Security

SOC 2 Type II in progress (target Q3 2026). Database encrypted at rest (AES-256), TLS 1.3 in transit, secrets rotated quarterly, access controls on principle of least privilege. Bug bounty: security@cadence.work.

7. Children

Cadence is not for under-18s. Don't use it if you're under 18.

8. Changes

We'll email you 30 days before any material change.
