Cadence has three roles: founder, engineer, partner. One account can hold all three. Here is how the switching works.
The basics
- Your login is shared across roles. One email, one set of credentials.
- Each role has its own dashboard at
/dashboard/founder, /dashboard/engineer, /dashboard/partner. - The role switcher lives in the top-right of the dashboard. Click your avatar, pick the role.
How to add a role
- Sign in with your existing account.
- Open /onboarding/founder, /onboarding/engineer, or /onboarding/partner depending on what you are adding.
- Each role has its own onboarding (founder is fastest, engineer requires the voice interview, partner requires approval).
- After approval, switch into that role from the dashboard.
Conflicts of interest
- You cannot be matched as an engineer with a founder you have an active engagement with from your founder role.
- You cannot earn a partner commission on yourself: founder-self or engineer-self referrals are blocked.
- You can earn a partner commission on engineers you bring even while you are taking bookings yourself, no conflict.
Why people use multiple roles
- Engineers who become partners earn 5% on every engineer they refer plus 10% on every founder, on top of their bookings.
- Founders who become partners earn recurring on every founder they refer to other founders.
- Founders who add engineer can take occasional bookings if they have a quiet stretch.
Removing a role
Email hello@cadence.work. We do not auto-remove because active partner referrals or active bookings need to wind down cleanly.
