You can delete your Cadence account from Settings. We process the deletion within 30 days and remove personal data per our privacy policy. Some data must be retained by law (financial records, tax forms). Here is exactly what happens.
How to delete
- Sign in.
- Open Settings → Account.
- Click Delete account.
- Confirm with your email and 2FA if enabled.
- You receive a confirmation email with the projected purge date (30 days from request).
Active engagements and bookings
We cannot delete an account with active engagements. The mechanics:
- Founders with an active booking: cancel the engagement first. The engineer wraps Friday, you are billed for the current week, then you can delete.
- Engineers with an active booking: end the engagement at week-end (one weekend's notice). Once the founder confirms wrap, the account becomes deletable.
- Partners: deletion stops the recurring commission immediately. Past commissions already paid are yours. Outstanding commissions for the current week are paid out the following Friday before the account is purged.
What gets deleted
- Profile (name, photo, bio, links).
- Public engineer or partner page (e.g.,
/e/your-handle). - Match history and preference data.
- Messages and call notes.
- Voice interview recording (engineers).
What we keep, and why
- Invoices, payouts, and 1099 / VAT records: 7 years (US tax law) or local equivalent.
- Aggregate, non-identifiable booking statistics for product analytics.
- Anonymized ratings (the rating itself, not who left it) on engineers, used to calibrate the relevance score.
- Transcripts of any open trust or safety investigation, until closed.
Reversing a deletion
You have 14 days from the confirmation email to cancel the deletion by clicking the link in that email. After that the purge runs and is irreversible.
