Creating UTM links

Every partner gets a personalized link at cadence.work/r/your-handle. You can extend it with UTM parameters to track which channel, campaign, or post drove which booking. Here is how.

Your default link

After approval, your dashboard shows cadence.work/r/your-handle. This works as is. Founders click, attribution sticks for 30 days, and once they sign up the attribution is permanent. You do not need UTM parameters to earn.

When to add UTMs

UTMs are useful when you are comparing multiple channels. They show up in your partner dashboard as separate rows so you can see which post, newsletter, or campaign actually moved bookings.

The four parameters we support

  • utm_source · where the link lives. twitter, newsletter, youtube, etc.
  • utm_medium · format. post, email, video, podcast.
  • utm_campaign · the specific piece. fall-launch, issue-42, teardown-ep5.
  • utm_content · optional. CTA variant or position (top vs bottom of post).

Examples

Newsletter mention in issue 42:

cadence.work/r/jane?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=issue-42

YouTube teardown video:

cadence.work/r/jane?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=teardown-ep5&utm_content=description

Twitter quote-tweet:

cadence.work/r/jane?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch-week

What you see in the dashboard

  • Clicks per UTM combination, last 30 days.
  • Signups per UTM combination, last 90 days.
  • Active founders per UTM combination, lifetime.
  • Recurring weekly commission per UTM combination.

Best practice

  • Use lowercase, hyphens, no spaces. fall-launch not Fall Launch.
  • Keep utm_source and utm_medium consistent. Pick a vocabulary and stick to it.
  • Make utm_campaign the variable that you change per piece (issue number, episode, week).
  • Do not put real PII in any UTM. They get logged in click analytics.
